Julianne Richards, Pearls Melba

Julianne's interest in pearls has led her on an exciting quest for knowledge from Australia to Tahiti and on to Hong Kong. She has visited a pearl farm in a remote area of French Polynesia where she witnessed all aspects of perliculture, from the seeding of young oysters and the harvesting of pearls, right through to the dealings of the sales office in Papeete. Julianne also attends the world's largest jewellery fair in Hong Kong to meet with pearl dealers and source unusual pearls that are not often seen in Australia. Beautiful baroques are a special favourite of hers and her customers.

Julianne enjoys the excitement of handling the beautiful natural objects that are pearls, in all their diversity of colour, shape and size. She welcomes the opportunity of being involved in The Goldsmith's Gallery to reach a wide, discerning audience.

Julianne is now producing a range of handcrafted pearl jewellery, under her business name of Pearls Melba, that is available from The Goldsmith's Gallery.
