Phillip Schmidt is a Master Jeweller and Platinumsmith. He began learning his trade as a jeweller in 1987 with a local Melbourne manufacturer. Then he travelled through Europe and worked in various jewellery workshops refining his skills and now specialises in platinum jewellery.

He started working in platinum in 2004 to cater for the growing need in specialised platinum bespoke designed jewellery.

Of all the precious metals, platinum is the metal he can get the best results from. Platinum is a dense, yet malleable metal that takes an excellent polish and does not corrode. While platinum is longer lasting than gold, it is also more expensive to buy and to work with. For a designer and jeweller it is the most exclusive and demanding area of the jewellery trade.

The step between creating delicately crafted platinum creations and working on significant bejewelled masterpieces can only be made by dedicating himself to the art of platinum smithing.
