Tom Tyrrell is a self-taught artist and has been painting with watercolour for over twenty years. He spent thirty-seven years in the surf industry and has had no formal art training. He has attended numerous workshops and demonstrations and joined the 2007 Goldrush Towns of Victoria Workshop with Bob Wade. Tom regards Bob as a true pioneer in bringing watercolour to the thousands of people who hold him in high regard.

Personal Interests

Tom loves the paintings of John Singer Sargent, JJ Hilder, Harold Herbert, Louis Buvelot, Streeton and others. He also believes that Australia and particularly Melbourne, is home to some of the best watercolourists in the world.

Tom loves painting around his own Bass Coast, but also likes to travel and paint new and challenging places. This gives him the chance to meet many great and interesting people on his journey down the watercolour road!

The Goldsmith’s Gallery now has five of his locally painted works on display.
